Loneliness

Word of the day…….Loneliness. This can be a really really scary word for many individuals. There have been various times in my life where I felt so lonely, such in a dungeon, I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to get out. What I have learned from these experiences of extreme loneliness have come in the form of extreme personal growth. I do not wish loneliness upon anyone, because it is a terrible feeling. It can effect your life in such a negative way where anxiety, depression, and your overall health can decline. However, anytime I go through something challenging in life, such as loneliness, I always try to shift my attention to asking the question: What can I benefit from this? In the beginning, when you are in the thick of it, you will not have an answer right away because you are still in survival mode. Once you can get past survival mode, take a breathe of air, you can start to focus your attention on the positive aspect of your feelings. I cant tell you enough how important it is to stop the negative thinking and change your mindset. For myself, with loneliness, once I realized that it is ok to feel alone, it allowed me to make positive changes where I could start moving forward. Sometimes we are the cause of our own loneliness because we are bottling up everything.
